My entry on the Grand Canyon trip was short. My photo album is not. I took over two thousand pictures, and was hard pressed to edit down to the 138 best.
In my blog entry, I wrote about the space between my Grand trip and reality instead of describing the details of being on the river. I imagined that people who had been on the river before would already know the stories, and for those who hadn’t, my words wouldn’t be able to do it justice. The photos, though, I hope will go a little bit farther toward a complete story: the people on the trip, the light on the limitless walls, the lap of waves on sandstone, the pull of current on wooden oars.

Wow! thanks for sharing these amazing pics- ever think of creating one of those photobooks that some picture sites can produce for you?
Susan!
I wanna go with you next time!!!! I can’t believe I haven’t done that yet! I’m a whoose, I don’t know how to paddle but I really truly want to learn if it means being there again (I once floated down the colorado river by the mohave desert, but nothing like what you just showed!).
Please keep me posted on the next outing! I’ll hop on the first plane out!
;-)
Meanwhile, take care, be well, happy trails and happy writing!
